Our Mission
Statement
The Jones Company is a professional outsourced sales and marketing firm
specializing in the HVACR industry. We are CPMR certified and
have over 25 years
of experience. We live daily by our motto, "We Market Products With You."
Our goal is to fulfill the
expressed and unexpressed needs of the excellent principals,
distributors, and associations in our industry. While doing
so, we maintain the highest integrity and deliver exceptional sales results through
marketing support, inventory, warehousing, training and teamwork with our
partners.
The Jones Company was founded in 1980 by
Robert E. Jones. Prior to becoming a manufacturer's
representative, Bob worked as GM/VP for the company that invented flexible
ducting and also manufactured mining and tunneling ventilation. Those
18 years of manufacturing experience were to prove valuable in the years to
come.
Feeling the need to begin his own
company, Bob moved from the L.A. area to Sacramento and began
the Robert E. Jones Company in 1980. Working out of his house, he
had a small car and lines to match. It didn't take long, however, for
the hard work and customer appreciation to pay off.
Today, we specialize in HVAC items for
distribution in the CA/NV/AZ/HI markets. We also operate our
own three warehouses, which are located in Wheatland, CA. (near Sacramento) amounting
to over 30,000 sq. ft. of storage. We function both on a consignment
basis and a buy-sell basis. The Jones Co. warehouses allow us to serve our
customers better and provide better coverage for our principals. We
can usually provide same-day shipping and stock the products our customers
want within a day’s delivery. We also maintain our own truck
and trailer for local deliveries.
We pride ourselves on efficiency and have
automated a great many sales tasks. We are E.D.I. capable, and well
positioned for the increasing usage of e-commerce and vendor managed
inventories.
We are also very proud to have taken part
in the three-year program of representative accreditation offered under the
Manufacturer's Agent's National Association. Bob Jones and Greg Jones
are both CPMR accredited. This program helps
representatives conduct their organizations in a more professional fashion
and better serve their customers and principles.
We have a large show trailer that we use
for distributor events and training. We maintain Jones catalogs at
all the major customers, and are active in most of the associations in our
industry. We’ve belonged to a number of rep councils for our
principals as well as rep industry groups.
Unlike many representatives,
we keep the number of lines we represent at a manageable level enabling the
service and attention to detail that both our customers and principals find
rewarding. Our average tenure with a principal is now over 9 years
and growing. With most of our lines, we are among the top couple reps
in the country for sales and have enjoyed substantial growth over the last
several years.
Bob Jones has overall responsibility for
the company and services a number of accounts. He is a marketing
graduate of U.C.L.A and was born and raised in Southern
California. Bob has worked in the HVACR industry since
he was a teenager and continues to have fun doing so.
Greg Jones, Bob's son, has been with the
company since 1984 and continues the tradition of service into the next
generation. He is a graduate of U.C. Davis. Also born and
raised in California,
he has worked in the HVACR industry for over 20 years as a manufacturer's
representative.
Mark Seko also
joined in 2008. For the last several years, Mark worked as the
equipment specialist for a leading regional wholesaler. He has a
great deal of experience structuring deals and putting together winning
proposals.
Tom Patton has responsibility for Northern
California. He started part-time in the warehouse a
decade ago, and now does a fantastic job servicing accounts in N.CA. and N.NV.
Buck Goff takes care of service rep
issues and all warehouse matters. Among other accomplishments, he has
gone years without missing a day of work.
Glenn Selby has responsibility for Arizona and Southern Nevada.
From running his own multi-million dollar contracting firm to regional
sales management and builder liaison work, he brings a wealth of experience
to our team.
In 2009, we began our affiliation with D. E. Sales. Strong and well-known in the HVACR
industry, D.E. Sales was founded by Doc Emmert. A
graduate of Fresno State College, Doc started his own manufacturer’s
representative firm in 1987.
For 7 years prior, he worked in sales management in the HVAC/R
industry. Doc has had great
success representing both large and small manufactures to California's HVAC/R wholesale industry.
